The Kindred Oak app

One app for the whole man.

Faith, Family, Fitness and Finance, each in its own section, all of them gathered into Today, with a brotherhood built in. Free, with no ads and nothing to buy inside it, ever.

In development. Coming to iPhone.

“Email me when it's ready” opens an email to cameron@kindoak.org. If nothing opens, write to that address.

Five sections

Everything a man is building, in one place.

The app opens on Today. Swipe left and right between the pillars, each in its own colour.

Today

Every pillar, one day.

Today gathers the day from every pillar you build: read, pray, train, call your people, check in on your money. Check an item off and the ring fills. Miss a day and the next morning simply reads Day 1. It never counts what you lost.

  • Morning, Day and Evening blocks you can rename and retime
  • A day ring that fills as you go, and a streak
  • Swipe back to yesterday and finish what you missed
  • Every item opens in its own pillar

Faith

Scripture, every morning.

A verse of the day, and a plan that takes you through the whole Bible in a year, anchored to January 1. Start on day one or join on today. Read one passage at a time, then write what it means for you.

  • Through the Bible in a year, or the M’Cheyne plan
  • Search any verse, any time
  • A private journal, with optional prompts
  • Pray, with an optional timer
  • Scripture in the ESV

Family

Your people, and your brothers.

Name the people who matter most and build habits that serve them. Then join a Group: a small brotherhood inside the app where men talk, pray and show up for each other, led by a man Kindred Oak has approved.

  • Your people and their details stay on your phone
  • Group chat, with a filter that errs on the side of caution
  • Amen, Praying and With you on every message
  • Events with RSVP
  • Groups are 18 and over

Fitness

Train with a plan.

Tell it what equipment you have, what you are training for, how many days a week and for how long, and pick a program, or build your own. Start your session and it carries you through, set by set.

  • Programs for a full gym, a barbell, dumbbells or no equipment
  • Build your own routine
  • Rest timer, plate loader and your maxes
  • Sleep, heart rate and nutrition from Apple Health, read only

Finance

See your money clearly.

Net worth, this month’s spending, cash flow and the bills coming up, in one place. Enter it by hand or import your bank’s file. It stays on your phone, and nothing financial ever reaches a Kindred Oak server.

  • Budget, goals, debts, recurring bills and reports
  • Import the CSV file your bank gives you
  • The seventeen money calculators, built in
  • Education, never advice

The screens are illustrations of the app in development, and every figure on them is a sample.

It never sits still

It feels alive.

Soft light in each section's colour drifts behind everything, and a few leaves fall and turn. Check something off and the light answers. As your day gets done, it warms.

Haptics you can feel under your thumb, and a quiet ambience you can switch off. Anyone who asks their iPhone for less motion gets a still, calm version of all of it.

Choose a section and watch the light change.

What it is built on

Six promises.

01

Free, forever.

No ads, no paid tier and no in-app purchases, ever. The brotherhood is free forever.

02

Your money stays on your phone.

Personal financial data never reaches a Kindred Oak server and is never shared with a Group, under any setting.

03

Sign in with Apple.

It is the only way in. No password to make up, and nothing else to remember.

04

Groups are 18 and over.

Anyone can use the app. Groups are 18 and over, and Kindred Oak approves every one.

05

Education, never advice.

The money tools teach and compare. They never tell you what to do with your money.

06

Made for iPhone.

Light and dark, and built to feel at home on iOS.

Groups

How a Group comes to be.

A Group is a small brotherhood inside the app. Every one of them starts with a man willing to lead it, and every one is approved by Kindred Oak.

  1. 1

    A leader applies.

In the app, a man who wants to lead fills in who the Group is for, why, his church and how many.

  2. 2

    A call with Kindred Oak.

Every Group is approved by Kindred Oak before it opens. A call comes first.

  3. 3

    Men join with a code.

The leader shares an invite code. It lasts three days, and every man confirms he is 18 or over.

  4. 4

    Brothers show up.

Talk, pray and meet. The leader keeps the Group healthy, and Kindred Oak reviews every report.

Questions

Asked and answered.

When can I get it?

It is being built now, and there is no date yet. Write to us and you will hear the day it is ready.

What does it cost?

Nothing. The app is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases, ever. The brotherhood is free forever.

Which phones will it run on?

iPhone. You sign in with Apple, which is the only way in.

Is my financial information safe?

Your financial data stays on your phone. It never reaches a Kindred Oak server, and it is never shared with a Group, under any setting.

Who can join a Group?

Groups are 18 and over, and you confirm your age with your birthdate when you join. Kindred Oak approves every Group before it opens, and you belong to one Group.

Which Bible translation does it use?

The app reads the English Standard Version, with Crossway’s attribution on every reading. The scripture on this website is the King James Version.

Will it tell me what to do with my money?

No. Everything in Finance is education, never advice. It shows you your own numbers clearly and leaves the decisions with you.

Be the first to hear.

Write to us and we will tell you the day the app is ready.

The button opens an email to cameron@kindoak.org. If nothing opens, write to that address.
